“The first step toward change is awareness. The second step is acceptance.” Nathaniel Branden
There are over 21 million people with disabilities in India as per the 2011 census. This is equivalent to approximately 2.1% of the population. One of the major barriers faced by persons with disabilities is the attitude of other people. Even in the 21st century, we see stereotypes and misconceptions about people with disabilities. Thus bringing about changes in behavior and attitude is essential. Disability awareness as a skill refers to being mindful of the disabilities of people and managing to communicate and work with them effectively.
To impart this skill and spread the knowledge, the Prajaahita Foundation is releasing knowledge shots about inclusive education every Tuesday. This knowledge shot aims to bring a spark to the in society and make people curious and read more about disabilities and inclusive education.
